Stretch your calves daily! Tight calves will lift the heel off the ground prematurely forcing weight onto the toes.
- Make sure most of the force through the foot is going into the big toe metatarsal. Good walking posture.
- Wear shoes with a good forefoot rocker so the ball of the root doesn't bend and the ligament isn't stretched.
- Make sure calves are loose. Tight calves will lift the heel off the ground prematurely forcing weight onto the toes.
- After inflammation is in check, strengthen the metatarsal ligaments with toe flexion exercises.
Metatarsal Fractures
Need to offload some of the pressure on the metatarsal heads. Try orthotics or metatarsal pads to elevate the metatarsal dome.
The metatarsal dome is back from the metatarsal heads. Putting pressure on the metatarsal heads by mistake will increase the pressure on them and make the pain worse.
