Propose
The purpose of this lab was to adjust the pH of my fertilizer solution to around 5.5
Procedure
- Pipette 1ml of potassium carbonate (GH pH Up) at a time, stir, and wait 5 minutes before re-checking pH.
- pH will be checked with 4.5-8.5 pH test paper.
Results & Observations
- Starting pH measured around 4.75.
- Pipetted 1ml of potassium carbonate (GH pH Up) into 1700ml fertilizer water, pH rose to 5.25.
- Pipetted 1ml of potassium carbonate (GH pH Up) into 1700ml fertilizer water, pH rose to 5.75.
Conclusion
If future fertilizer solutions experience a pH crash, then 1-2 ml of potassium carbonate should be enough to bump it back into range.
