What would society look like if there were no digital currency and only one denomination of a physical currency?

I think the would help equalize wealth disparity and prevent it from ballooning because there's not only a theoretical wealth limit (say 10million pennies) due to the logistics involved in storing and maintaining the horde, there's also a practical limit for most people, where they wouldn't want to bring more than say, 2 buckets of pennies, to go buy a higher value goods. Buckets with lines on them could be used to estimate quantities of wealth. Lower value goods would intrinsically have more weight, and would either be considered luxury, or it would almost act like a minimum wage for people to have a decent quality of life.
